Tools and Code Analysis covers the suite of offensive security tools used throughout the penetration testing lifecycle, as well as the ability to read and interpret scripts or code snippets that a tester might encounter or write. Candidates are expected to recognize the purpose of common tools for scanning, exploitation, credential harvesting, and post-exploitation, as well as understand basic scripting logic in languages such as Python, Bash, and PowerShell. The PT0-002 exam does not require writing production code, but does expect testers to analyze short code samples and identify what they do or whether they contain malicious logic.
