Service quotas (formerly called service limits) are per-account, per-region caps that AWS enforces on how many resources or API calls you can provision or make within a given service. For the Solutions Architect Associate exam, you need to understand that hitting a quota can block scaling or deployments, and that quotas can be viewed and increase-requested through the Service Quotas console or AWS Support. Architects are expected to design systems that monitor quota usage and account for lead time when requesting increases.
